3D Modeling
+ Rendering

This section presents some of the 3D modeling and rendering projects that I have been developing during the last years, either for the master’s degree in digital product modeling or on my own.

Some are models based on iconic designs that I admire like the RR126 or the Taccia lamp, and others, however, are my own designs.

Working on them has helped me to achieve increasingly professional results, with better defined and detailed models, and with renderings a bit closer to reality.

Brionvega RR126

The RR 126 is a radio phonograph designed by brothers Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni in 1964, commissioned and later produced by the Italian electronics company Brionvega. Born as stereo equipment, it became an icon of 1960s pop design.

The structure is formed by lacquered plywood enclosures and a plexiglass casing that protects the turntable; in this part emerges the para-physiognomic character of this «musical robot».

Taccia Lamp

The ingenious Taccia table lamp is a design of the Castiglioni brothers in 1962 for the FLOS brand.

It consists of three main elements: a fluted aluminum column with ventilation openings inside which houses the light source, a rotating parabolic bowl in transparent glass and a curved reflector in notched aluminum. It provides a soft filtered light that can be directed by rotating the «light bowl» 360 degrees. It is a simple but ingenious solution that illustrates the Castiglioni’s desire to achieve the best results with the least possible means.

Flowerpot

This is a project for the Rendering Techniques with Keyshot course that consisted of modeling an object with a free theme with the objective of generating renders with different materials and exploring the possibilities of Keyshot’s graphical material editor.

In my case I designed a simple flower pot and created several complex materials with different textures, displacement maps, labels, etc. These materials were: cement, ceramic and terrazzo.

Bosch Drill

This was a project initially developed for the Surface Modeling with Solidworks course and consisted of modeling an electric drill using complex surfaces.

Later the work was retaken for the subject of Rendering Techniques with Keyshot, since it was asked to render an object of this type, exploring different forms of lighting.

In addition, for the final scene I decided to make a context rendering, where the surfaces of the object were damaged by the use and with a background and lighting that gave it more realism.

Domestika Course

At the beginning of 2021 I took the course on photorealistic product rendering with KeyShot from the Domestika platform.

This course teaches you how to render in a photorealistic way any three-dimensional object using KeyShot. Throughout its units, you will discover how to represent any type of object, applying different types of lighting, positioning cameras, creating all kinds of complex materials and applying some basic touches in Phoyoshop to get an even more professional result.
